How BB-8 Works
"There were a lot of discussions about how having a CG BB-8 would be so much easier, but we also knew it would be better for the film if it were performed" said director J.J. Abrams when the first trailer for Star Wars Episode VII came out. But how did they build it? Weirdly enough, the internet couldn't give me an answer, so a friend and I set out to figure it out ourselves. This site, published in May 2015, was the result of our investigation. It soon went viral, being featured on Popular Science, Time Magazine , the BBC and many other media outlets. Oh, and it was the side project of the summer for Net Magazine.

Beach Boys Legacy
Beach Boys Legacy is my frontend development playground. Why a site about The Beach Boys? Well, they are one of my favorite bands and their massive discography, which spans over five decades, couldn't be properly explored anywhere on the internet. Fully designed and developed by myself, this project allows me to keep my frontend skills up to date. It also got me some backstage passes for Beach Boys and Brian Wilson shows :)

NES Mini
Like "How BB-8 Works", this site is a side project that I built using the 3D editor that we developed at Verold, the Toronto-based startup where I worked until it was acquired by Box in 2015. Launched a few weeks before Nintendo released the NES Mini, the site is basically an enhanced post that tells the amazing story behind the original NES from 1985.

Scheduled Appointments in Doctor24
Doctor24 was born as a service that allowed users to talk to doctors online. The idea was pretty simple: sign in and do a video call with one of our physicians. But talking to users we realized how important it was for them to be able to talk to a doctor they already trusted. At the same time, they loved the immediacy of pushing a button and connecting with a physician right away. When we started designing Scheduled Appointments, our main challenge was figuring out how to keep the best of both worlds.

UX
This talk, which I have been giving at different acceleration programs for startups since 2015, tries to answer three questions: What is UX? Why should I care? Where do I get started? Using examples of entrepreneurs who deeply cared about their users despite not having formal training as designers, I try to convey the long-term importance of designing great user experiences.

Validating big ideas with small solutions
There is only one thing more dangerous than solving a problem wrong: solving the wrong problem. When resources are limited and one of our main goals is helping our business grow and scale, we must make sure that we are choosing the problems that are truly worth solving. In this talk we leave our intuition aside and we start looking for ways to validate our hypothesis with lean solutions. Then we explore how to to spread this mindset throughout other teams in our company.

The Product Design Process at Ontruck
While most startups have feature-based roadmaps, at Ontruck we work with problem-based roadmaps. Why? We don't build features for the sake of it. Only after we have fully understood the problems we aim to solve, we start thinking about solutions. In this talk we share how we do research, how we avoid falling in love with our solutions and how we prototype and test everything we design before we start building.
